On Wednesday, May 7, I had the distinct pleasure of attending a friendraiser for Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission. The event took place at Mama Juana's in Studio City (don't blink or you'll miss it). The event, hosted by Proyecto's Emerging Leaders Board, served as an effort to garner support and increase awareness of the great work Proyecto staff and volunteers do for the Boyle Heights community.I must admit that, prior to this event, I never took the time to learn more about the organization. I was surprised to learn that Father Greg Boyle in 1986--shows how out of touch I am. More importantly, I had the opportunity to learn about the Emerging Leaders Board. This Board is made up of young visionaries from a diversity of industries: for-profit, nonprofit, and government. This group of young leaders did an outstanding job; the restaurant was packed with energetic, hard-working, and committed people.
